Game Invented now what?

I have just created a kids board game. I have made a rough prototype and have played it with a lot of groups of people. It is a real fun game that is simple but fun. I am just stuck now on where to go from here. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. My goal would to sell the game to someone who has a lot more insight to the gaming industry, and where production would be a lot cheaper.

If anyone has and advice I would love to share the idea with some of you. I am just not sure how to go about the copy rights. Can I show people with out a copy right? I dont know. I am just a bit lost

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

Don't worry about Copyrights

What you need to do is figure out if you want to approach publishers (which could take even a year to get a deal) or go the self-publishing route.

In the *Publisher* route, you should try to find a list of publishers... Here is a link to that list: http://www.bgdf.com/node/621

BUT before you contact them - You need to have a *Game Manual* or *Rulebook* that explains exactly how to play the game.

Like I said earlier it could take upwards to a year to get a game published. There are no guarantees, so you should contact as many as possible, write a brief synopsis of your game and see if anyone is interested in seeing a Prototype. From there you should send your prototype to ONE (1) publisher, giving them enough time to evaluate the game before sending it to another publisher... If a publisher refuses the game, send it to another who is willing to take a look at the prototype, etc.

In the *Self-Publishing* route, there is one (1) BIG name: The Game Crafter (TGC) http://www.thegamecrafter.com

You should check out their website and look to see if they have everything you need for your game (cards, parts, mats, boxes, boards, etc.) The Game Crafter allows you to MAKE ONE copy of your game and mail it out. You can of course create MORE and they have bulk discounts. You can also use their services to make a more *professional* looking Prototype.

Each thing you add to your game will have a COST and they will tell you the COST of making ONE (1) game. You can also choose to SELL your game via their website by setting a *sales price*.

As for "Copyrights", I would say your biggest *challenge* is getting a publisher to play your prototype. If you talk MORE about your game on BGDF well you can have a community that backs your game (e.g. forget about copyrights - if you are the GAME DESIGNER on BGDF, you'll have a bunch of designers backing you AND your product/game).
