Miners of Axiom

Miners of Axiom was a simple card game which was created as a distraction from attempting to write novels set in the same universe. The games simplicity makes it easy enough to share as my first blog post should anyone ever want to play it (for reasons beyond me).

It has a nice balance between luck and planning and frustration, that being lots of frustration and planning with larger quantities of luck.

The game works as followed:

Components:
200 Cards

50 for Surface
50 for Level 1
50 for Level 2
49 for Level 3
1 Mantle for Level 3

List format: Amount-Name-Value

Surface:

20-Nature Reserve-1
25-Farmland-2
5-Quarry-3

Level 1: Costs 5

20-Stone-1
20-Iron-3
10-Gold-4

Level 2: Costs 7

15-Stone-1
15-Gold-4
20-Plutonium-5

Level 3: Costs 9

19-Stone-1
20-Plutonium-5
10-Diamond-6
1-Mantle

Set up:
1)Remove the Mantle card
2)Split the cards into their correct deck-Surface, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 respectively
3)Shuffle each deck
4)Place the Mantle card in the bottom half of the Level 3 deck
5)Players draw 3 Surface cards

Playing the game:
1)At the start of your turn draw a surface card.
2)You can then discard
cards up to, or over, the cost to buy a card of a deck level, and take a card from that level.
These are 5, 7 and 9 for Levels 1, 2 and 3 respectively.

Rules:
-You can never have more than 9 cards in your hand at one time, though this can be changed to personal preference for changing the speed of the game.
-The person who has the most diamonds when the Mantle is reached wins!
-If a deck should run out at any point just shuffle the discarded cards into a new deck.

Quick-Play:
Choose a time frame e.g 5 minutes, and the person with the hand worth the most at the end of the time wins! (The true game can last no time or a long time depending on deck structure)
