maximum number

This is unrelated to the contest but what’s the maximum number of cards that can fit into the hook box? Is it 18 or can it fit a few more (no other paper or slugs)

My question is about the contest

Now it says 18 Card Hook Box ... but can we have multiple boxes? For example, I am working on a CCG which requires that each player have his OWN 12 card "Micro" Deck. And so this means that the game fits into the Hook Box, but each player would require his/her own box of card.

I'm guessing it's a no; only 18 cards period.

But no harm in asking... Cheers!

Note: The "Micro" Deck of 12 cards is like a Starter Kit. Each player requires his/her own deck which can be customized to hold whatever cards he/she wishes (just like any normal CCG).

It would also include a booklet for instruction on how to play, customize and configure a valid "Micro" Deck (Aside from using the Starter Kit).

Update: Forgot my game relies on 4 dice too... No way that is fitting into a Tuck Box or Hook Box (for that matter).

Looks like talked yourself out of it. But to be clear, for others that may read this, the contest is about a single game with a single box.

I just couldn't meet the requirements

Because of the added dice, I could not meet the requirements. The dice are now an integral part of the game and cannot be removed. And your contest clearly states no additional components (like dice).

It's probably too early for the contest (in terms of my design) anyways.

I would have to commission all the artwork in 30 days and I just talked with my artist and told him I expect a more "relaxed" schedule (for illustrations)...

Anyways the bottom line, is that my game is not a fit for this contest. It's close - but the dice make the difference ...

Plus my "Micro" Deck is required for each player and there can be 2 to 4 players playing the game. Having only 18 cards to the game - isn't a feasible option for my present design...

So yeah I talked myself out of it. Realizing that it was not a fit for my own game. Would have been cool to participate - but I don't operate on requirements. I am more driven by inspiration and it's hard to inspire based on pre-set requirements.

But I wish all the contestants the best of luck(!?)... Cheers.

I'm going to give it a go...

I put together a game for the contest, called "M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction)" Waiting for the printed copies to arrive so I can proof them and enter. Should see it on The Game Crafter next week!
