Ruinstorm // hive wars - A table-top card driven miniatures skirmish game

I've been toying with game design for a while as an amateur. My interests are primarily abstract strategy and war-games. I know that probably puts me at the unfashionable end of the board game spectrum, but that's what I like.

As it is, I'm getting to the point where I'd like to get a bit more serious about designing games, and I've been working on Ruinstorm for a number of months now. It's getting to the point where I can really rip into the play testing, but obviously what I can do locally is limited. I have a working prototype, which took some putting together (I'm sure I've spent too much time and effort on making it look pretty, but that's what I do when I'm excited), and I don't particularly expect anyone other than myself to ever spend the effort to re-produce it, but if anyone really gets into the rules they're more than welcome to give it a go.

That said, I'd like to put the rules up here for people to take a look at. I'm not in a position yet where I feel the need to make money from this project, there are always more ideas to be made, so I'm releasing it under a creative commons license as I try to support CC where I can. Feel free to distribute, remix, etc as much as you like within the restrictions of CC BY NC SA.

So, unfinished, unbalanced, and still largely untested, here it is: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55893635/Ruinstorm%20Rules%20V0.1%20...

Any comments or criticisms are very welcome. I'll be writing up play testing and modifications in future blog entries.
