Sold out!

Just wanted to put somewhere that I just sold out of my Darkness & Light expansion, which is exciting and also a little sad. And also maybe saying I could've put up a smaller holiday discount than I did :) There are still a dozen or so copies available at the distributor I'm using, but that's it.

The print run was only 768 units because I really didn't think I could sell 1000, but that was before COVID drove everyone into their houses with their kids..

I still have about 700 copies from my second print run of the base game, but I can't possibly justify a reprint of that expansion at this point. I still have my Ice & Flame expansion coming in 2021, and hopefully that'll keep things going. Selling bundles has always been my best bet, so I'll have something new to bundle for next holiday season.

Anyway, yay!

Congrats!

I'm sure that was good news to learn (your situational sale price quirks excepted).

Best of success on funding your next expansion when that KS campaign is up and running...! :)

Oh, the KS is complete.. I just need to finish the GAME :)

Thanks!

Hmm... Cool beans!

Hello Jason... Are you saying that Ice & Flame Expansion is being manufactured and delivered to Backers in 2021??? Or did you already do that and you are talking about left-over stock from a KS campaign (for Ice & Flame)?? I believe the KS had occurred already, no (November)?

Glad to at least see that you are SELLING.

700 "core" games will probably get sold in 2021 even if things are back to the "New Normal" once the pandemic subsides and vaccines are made available.

Anyhow with your THIRD (3rd) Product out the door ... At least the Brand is growing with the kids playing more of the adventure with their parents, right?! It must help to re-assure you that the product has merit and still has an audience.

The next milestone I guess is seeing how LONG it takes to sell 700 "core" games. I was told that US manufacturers buy about 1,000 games in ONE (1) order. But you didn't have plans to go into distribution but rather sell them online via 2 or 3 websites (Amazon, IPR and your own website).

In any case, I wish you much success with the game. TradeWorlds looks to finally be into PRODUCTION and we expect the SAMPLE some time towards the end of January 2021.

I also DOWNLOADED the Mystery Coins Campaign

I just wanted to know HOW you were handling the D&D Campaign part. And it's a good start by not killing the Female Troll (moral lesson to not always use violence to resolve an issue). It's good to know that you can ADD things like morals, lessons learned, how to handle multiple situations (with different approaches), etc.

I only read Level #1. But I found it NICE in that you can talk to the Female Troll to understand what is her problem and why she stole the gold coins in the first place.

It's not OVERLY "verbose" just enough to set the setting and let the DM embellish with more conversation and answers to questions, etc.

Have you tracked HOW many people have DOWNLOADED the Gold Coins Adventure???

Is it 10, 100 or 1,000... Probably between 10 and 100, right? That's a good start... If you've gotten MORE D/Ls congrats. The game is expanding ... One thing I would just SUGGEST:

Reach-out to anyone who wants to WRITE their own campaign. And make them downloadable from your website like the Gold Coins Adventure.

The more FREE content which is Adventure-oriented, the stronger the Brand and the more people will be PLAYING the game (and not sitting on a shelf). Right now you have 3 Campaigns with 1 Bonus. Maybe be getting 2 to 3 more FREE content (and you can offer credit to author; maybe offer them a FREE expansion if you can make the adventure downloadable, etc.) and this will provide more "adventures" for playing.

This is like my www.XTG3.org initiative: you're ready to make it PARTIAL meaning that the product is licensed and you'll REVIEW adventures that are fully written out (of course you can reserve your right to edit them...) So your FANS can submit content which you can share with everyone else... At no charge to anyone.

Positive outcome is GREAT! All the best Jason...

Note #1: Also you could alternatively hold a CONTEST for the best adventure ... The winner can win a FREE "Expansion" of his/her own choice (including one in the future ... maybe) or maybe a small monetary Gift (or one of those Amazon.com Gift Cards for $100 USD) and then you can SIFT through all the ENTRIES and maybe have some kind of warning that the content is made available for review and may be made public for downloading ...

IDK the exact rules. But something like: "If you want to participate, you must make your campaign OPEN and hold no copyright."

And this way maybe you could have 3 Finalists, offer $175 USD in Gift Cards ($25, $50 and $100) and you'll have THREE (3) more adventures for your BRAND... And more playing/excitement for all the kids who own a copy of the game.

You could ENCOURAGE Dads and Moms to HELP their KIDS design their OWN campaigns/adventures...

Anyhow you get the idea. Just wanted to share some thoughts. Cheers!

Unfortunately no, I have no way to track those downloads, and I didn't put it on some sort of special page where I collect email addresses or anything.

I suspect it's been 100-300, because it was up on my FB page, my campaign KS page for the second expansion, etc.

My main issue right now is that I switched jobs and don't have quite the same amount of spare mental capacity that I used to, so I haven't been quite as gung ho about working on this brand (other than making a lot of holiday sales, anyway).

That's still GOOD news, nothing wrong with focusing on sales!

Well at least you focused on SELLING more during the Holidays! That's a very positive outcome.

I on the other hand focused on HOPING we (my Publisher) could stick to the deadline and choose a Manufacturer by 20 December 2020. It happened and an Official Update was made on 24 December 2020...

This too is positive... But not as great as selling more games. Your progress is better than mine. However I have more to work on other than one game: I've got four (4) that I am actively involved with... One which I plan to KS in 2021 (maybe around September 2021).

On that one we are working on artwork... And I've negotiated a profit sharing model (for the KS) which means ART can continue without waiting for the KS to be over. It's a chance: more pieces of art for a higher rate in hopes of Stretch Goals (not too much ... to put us around 1,000 Backers) and we'll all be happier if this does happen.

But my goal is low (300 Backers) to reach Funding. And monetarily 1,000 is very economical too. So, we'll have to wait and see how things go!

Happy New Year to you and your loved one! Cheers.

Awesome!

Congrats on selling out a run!
That's always an amazing milestone to hit in your game design/publishing career.

Keep up the awesome work.
