Kingdoms of Immacus: Player Elimination Vs. Victory Points

When I started making Kingdoms of Immacus, it was a pretty standard card game with some fun extra elements added in. The "Hero" acted as the damageable player, and once a Hero was destroyed, the player lost. The Hero was also able to cast spells and influence the battlefield, which made them an active participant of the game. The problem I found in the early play test sessions is that players would just wipe the board clean and then target the Hero without any real threat from it as it didn't have an active attack stat.

Kingdoms of Immacus: Card Game Progress Report 3/20/16-3/26/16

This week’s progress was very productive as far as testing and design was concerned. Though I didn’t finish the logo border, I did finish the head of the logo, which took longer than I wanted, but I’m very happy with the results. I did also manage to get a play test session in and have learned quite a bit from it.

Dice Duelz - Full Mock-Up

Just a quick mock-up how the advanced version of the game would look like. Advanced means that each player has the maximum of 3 monsters in play.

The screenshot below (you can click to enlarge it) shows the state of the board right after both player rolled all of their monsters dice and are now determining Initiative according to a new system (WIP).

For sake of simplicity, all dice are treated equal in this example. You can see the "dice legend" on the top left corner.

Game testing myth

BAa'la-rena

The theory is that in game design 90% is in testing. I am not arguing this. I am arguing the time frame involved. I have gone from concept to published in one week. During that week 90% of the design was test playing, but it din't take years, it took days.

At the starting line...

Here we go again.....new games about to land and we start the sales / marketing drive once again!

We have on this occasion done something new by shipping 2000 units direct from factory to our UK distributor...hasn't been that much of a saving as the other 3000 games need to get to me, so splitting shipping still adds up to one large freight bill!

Dice Duelz - Elements & Dice

Dice Duelz - Legends Logo

Yep, it seems we are now on the right track regarding the core rules. they now play much faster, smoother and are much easier to read and teach. Before I post the rules here, I would like to go into detail about the Elements & Dice found in the game:

  1. A GENERAL WORD ON DICE

Dice Duelz uses custom dice, so there are no standard pips in the game. It makes use only of d6 (six-sided-dice) in various colors with custom printed sides.

The price of sucsess

If you have been following along Star Trek Five Year Mission is doing well and we have already discussed doing an expansion or two.

The first I hope will be a suite of small expansions that you can add on or mix and match as you like. This includes the expansions: Complications, Away Missions, and Special orders. All is going well with this but much more testing is required. This has not been approved as of yet but my fingers are crossed.
