The Flux Capacity Publishing Challenge Chat

Josh Bricker, president of The Flux Capacity, will be in a scheduled chat on The Game Crafter on Wednesday, March 12 at 8PM Eastern. This is a great chance for you to get all your questions answered about The Flux Capacity Publishing Challenge. Hope to see you there.

Kickstarter Stretch Goals

The Game Crafter - The Leading Print On Demand Game Publisher

When we ran our Shrink Wrap IndieGoGo project last year it was all about enhancing The Game Crafter service based upon features that were heavily requested. This year we decided we wanted to try to get game buyers more involved, so we did a game-oriented Village in a Box Kickstarter campaign. Our plan was to mix in stretch goals that would also enhance the service, because people have been requesting that we do exactly that.

Tradewars - Homeworld: TO DO list

I figured I'd post up what needs editing in the current rulebook (version 0.09a). This is sort of a reminder to myself and a little bit of a sneak peek into what all these prototypes are all about (the type of changes).

So these are the changes that must be done for the latest rulebook:

  • Trade Starships may *defend* a Homeworld
  • Trade Starships use one (1) white d6 for the amount of turns (for reward)
  • No more Starship Abilities (Tactic cards instead)
  • Tactic cards used as *Instants* that can be played anytime

Time Line: Adventures in Time Travel Rough Draft

You are a Time Traveller.

The Time Line is not as robust as everybody seemed to think.  While stepping on a butterfly doesn't dramatically change everything, it turns out that you're not alone in being able to a time Travel.  Some of your fellow Travellers are not nice.

Card Types:

Traveller Cards
Big cards with lots of information about a Traveller.  Includes bio, special abilities, unique win conditions, attributes, and health.  These go in front of the player.

Age Cards

The Flux Capacity Publishing Challenge

The Flux Capacity is an up and coming board game publisher in Canada with two great titles under their belt, and more to come soon. TFC is looking for another game to add to their line-up and that’s where you come in. This is another great board game design contest at The Game Crafter!

All TFC games have significant replay value with a strong theme and solid mechanics. Their games are targeted at families with players aged 13 or older.

Tradewars - Homeworld: Playtesting (4x)

On Sunday of this week (2 March), I will be testing a combination of corrections (#9 and #10). These two (2) corrections have a new feel to the game, especially with a focus back on trading and earning/unlocking starships.

I have the corrections for version #11 already on the way from The Game Crafter (TGC)... I should hopefully have them near the end of next week.

Premise: Adventures in Time Travel

The premise is "Adventures in Time Travel" and the core mechanic of the game is the Time Line, a series of five cards that represent different time periods.

As play progresses, the players' actions can dramatically effect the Time Line. Even the player's inaction can effect the Time Line.

Events pop up on the Time Line that either need to be helped along to keep the time line static, or they can be allowed to expire without interference, but depending on the Event determines what effect either action will have on the time line.

Our New Idea Box

The Game Crafter - The Leading Print On Demand Game Publisher

Since the dawn of The Game Crafter we have had an ideas forum where you could tell us what you thought was missing from the site. We often rifle through it and pick the ideas we like from it and implement them. This has happened hundreds of times over the years. However, there’s a few big problems with this process, most importantly, we don’t know which ideas are most important to you. For that reason, we’ve launched our new ideas system.

Semi-Finalists for Mystery Challenge

The Game Crafter - The Leading Print On Demand Game Publisher

The votes are in and The Game Crafter is pleased to officially announce the list of semi-finalists for the Mystery Challenge.

Created a Patreon and Youtube on game design for anyone interested

Since, I've worked in both the video games and board game industry I figured that my knowledge could be helpful to others.

I've started a channel about game design and development on youtube. I intend to keep it split between board game and video game parts... but it's currently weighted a bit towards electronic.

If it sounds like something you might be interested in, here are the links:
