My newest game creation...

notes

So this is my first blog entry on the site. First time using the site as well. I'm actually typing this from my phone.

I'm sitting here alone on a warm friday night. Wife has left to help some friends babysit. I've got the house to myself and our internet has gone out for the 5th time today. I decided to kick back on the couch and throw open my sketch book and notebook. Theres already a lot of content developed so far, but I have a long way to go.

Better Paper Quality at The Game Crafter

better-paper-quality-the-game-crafter.jpg

In our continuous efforts to improve the quality of our offerings, The Game Crafter is upping the quality of the paper we print on for booklets and documents. The paper is 29% thicker and 6% brighter. This results in richer and smoother colors. In the image above, there are two sheets of paper laid side-by-side in the same photo. As you can see the color quality is dramatically improved. The paper also has a smoother finish and a bit more heft. All of this adds up to a more professional feel.

Against the Legends

It's been two months since my last post and since then I have tallied 4 more multi-player playtests and another 3 solo playtests. It was tested at Dice Tower Con twice (where it's new name was suggested - which I really like), and most recently last night.

Development is coming along very very nicely. 4p game last night was enjoyed by all and took 1 1/2 hours which is right where I want it for a 4p game.

First Playtest of Ecks

Ecks 1st Playtest

So earlier this week I hashed together a rough "proof of concept" for my game idea, "Projekt Ecks", and took it to the weekly boardgamers gathering where we playtested it.

Box Freedom

Freedom to use any box at The Game Crafter (make sure the dimensions are smaller than the box though!)

By popular demand, you are now able to use boxes from The Game Crafter however you wish. Therefore you’re able to now put game pieces into tuck boxes. You’re able to use any box in our parts catalog as game packaging. However, if you try to put too much stuff into your game's box, then that will raise the shipping charges. Our system will tell you the dimensions of your game. If those dimensions are larger than the box you chose, then that means our system doesn’t think the items you have selected will fit in the box you have selected.

Prototype version 0.2 on its way...

New version of board

For several reasons I reworked both the board and most of the cards and I'm currently having a break from my paper guillotine producing the new version. Hopefully I'm able to perform another playtest tomorrow, and I wanted to fix the most blatantly annoying things I found out during my solo playtest a couple of days ago.

Gamecrafter cards arrived

mathtornado gamecrafter

Hi,

I got my card game I made by thegamecrafter.com yesterday. I made a box and used poker cards. The cards feel good, the print is nice and centered. The box is nice too but the colors are much darker as the png I made. The green and the blue are too dark, the red color is better. The yellow I used is exactly what I wanted and on the back of the box there is a photo which is good.
