Hi everyone,

Create regions as part of board game play?

Hi everyone,

Has anybody ever run across a game where, instead of moving, building, fighting in/between, etc. predetermined regions on a board, players take a board with only physical or other basic features on it and create/define regions and cities as the game progresses? This could be done through any number of means, such as fighting, building, etc.

Thank you,

Ruben

Representing group of characters in board game

I'm trying to come up with ideas for how to represent a group of characters in a board game that travel together. Miniatures are great, but space and money are limited. So, I need to come up with a way to represent a group of characters (say, for example, a human, dwarf, elf, and wizard) as they travel, fight, etc. throughout the game.

I can think of two ways: 1) a stack of tiles, chits, cubes, etc. and 2) a small tile or board with peg holes and pegs. These will work, but neither are thematic, in my opinion.

Style of Bad Guy Play/Mechanics

Hi everyone,

This is a pretty general question, but which do you like better of the following two choices for a game with miniatures, movement, and a board?

1) When the game controls the bad guys automatically or the game itself is what the players fight against - like Zombicide, etc.

or

2) When there's a player(s) controlling the bad guys - like War of the Ring?

What determines this? What situation makes one better than the other? Why do you feel this way?

Thank you!

Best movement mechanic large board

Hi everyone,

As a follow up to my previous question of how big a board is too big, I wanted to ask what movement mechanic(s) you feel are the best/most interesting or unique you have encountered. I feel there's a couple mechanics I have encountered that I like and one that I really like.

How big is too big?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I'm looking forward to it!

I'm in the early stages of developing a board game. The setting is a massive planet, much larger than Earth and the mechanics of the game include exploration and discovery, individual fights and large battles with other races and monsters, etc. The size of the planet is a 'character' in and of itself, and one the heroes need to learn to overcome. The board will have detailed art, to give the impression of many features over a large landscape. The landscape itself is a key component of this game.
