Okay, I added a method for uploading files. Registered users can now go to the Your Account module. From there, there is an option for My Uploads. Clicking there will allow you to upload files (2 meg max file size, with 5 meg total max). We don't really want to advertise this function too much because we don't want people uploading unrelated files or using the site as a file storage depot. I am still looking into implementing the old upload function, but all of the download links for that mod appear broken. I figured this feature could work in the meantime.

Back into the shadows.

Thanks, Darke! As I mentioned, I need to be able to tell people how to upload their files for the GDW. Rather than include this info in the "Protocols" thread, I'll simply disseminate the info when people ask how to upload their files. Hopefully, the GDW users are "reputable" enough that none will abuse this info. Let me know if there are any problems...

Thanks again,

Note that I added the Board Game Geek search box at the left on top of the Community Menu. Members can use it to type in a game they want to research on the geek. I thought this would be useful since folks are always refering to specific games in the forum. Also I removed the white space at the bottom of the forum search / new posts center block. On another note, the new posts link appears to be working again, although why I'm not sure. As you recall, previously it would only work the first time you went to the link. After that it would mark all posts as being read.

That is all.

P.S. Note that the Board Game Geek search opens results in a new window (so folks arent carried offsite), so pop up blockers will need to be disabled (which hopefully they are anyway).

This is a great idea, but...where is the BGG search? I'm not seeing it; the only thing I see is a * which links to the "list all new posts", which is nice. Am I missing something?

Matthew moved it to under the Instant Messenger block, which to me is not visible enough. Perhaps we can compromise and put it under the System Menu?

On another note, on the community menu, I added a little *[/code] to the right of the Discussion Forums link. Clicking this little red asterix is the same as the List New Posts link at the top of the home page. The difference is that this link will be availabe all the time (even, and especially, while in the forums). This way if a member wants to see if any new posts have been made recently, he has but to click on the little red asterix to list any new posts.

Oh, now I see it. I don't think it matters all that much where you put it, although you should announce to everyone that it's there (as, presumably, you were already planning to do...). Since that left menu bar is so long, I would think in terms of where it ranks in likelihood of being used; probably above anything in the System menu, I'd think (with the exception of "Search", perhaps...).

I'm glad to have it, though; I know I'm often too lazy to provide BGG ref's for games. This will make me much more likely to include those! Thanks!

Moving it up one is fine by me.

I tried to change the title to "BoardGameGeek" instead of "Board Game Geek" so it would fit appropriately in the old default style (the blue one), but when I try to edit it I get a message saying that the HTML isn't allowed... ?

Patchwork Nuke no longer allows HTML to be put directly into Blocks (among other things), so in order to do so I have to edit the SQL directly with PHPMyAdmin. I did the change and bumped it up one so it should be more visible.

Can I just say that both of those features are terrific (I noticed the search one and used it straight away.)
You're doing a grand job. Keep it up!
