Ok,

I know that EVERYONE is busy, but I am begging for help on the wiki. We need ppl that can write up content. Short pieces on mechanics, how-tos and other filler.

The wiki was going very well until I, Bryk and Darke, burnt ourselves out a little bit. I really over did it for a few weeks, bad idea on my part.

I am willing to do more content, but I think we can all agree that I am not a strong writer! Not to mention many of you have much more knowledge then I do.

So please if you have anytime, even just enough to write one article or mechanic writeup, please, please try. You dont even need to alter the wiki, just PM me the content and I will put it up on the wiki.

We are sooooooo close to having a usuable wiki, I dont want it to die.... :( again!!

thanks,
Dave

Will do.

Question: Will the existing boards continue to exist after the Wiki is up, or will the content be ported over and get a new URL? I have some threads I'd like to point to in the content, but don't want to add a bunch of eventually broken URLs.

I thought I'd registered for the wiki before, but it doesn't seem to remember me. I registered, and have received no email, so it won't validate me.

This is the process that we'll use:

1) Open/announce the new site. THe intented target date was July 1st, but it's not going to happen.. Maybe August.
2) Have both sites open for a month. This will allow people to gather up any stuff they need from the old site and get used to the new site.
3) After the month, install a stand alone PHPBB site and port all the messages to it, then make everything read only. In essence this will archive all the old posts.
4) Close down all of the Nuke functionality of the old site.

But in reality, the content should NOT point to threads. The whole point of the wiki is put the information in an easily readable format in one place. So I definitely don't want the wiki pointing to threads...

Did we ever come to a final resolution about the internal hot-linking of the text? I could see a model like wikipedia being nice, but labor-intensive. Perhaps each page could have, at the bottom, a set of "keywords" which provide links to other related articles that are referenced in each entry.

The particular advantage of the latter model would be that we could write up the text for each article now and just append the links after all the articles are done, rather than have to go back and edit the text itself.

I'm pretty busy at the moment, but I'll try to do a little writing as time permits, perhaps compiling some of the material from the TiGD discussions.

Not sure what you mean by this. However, you can add links to articles that don't exist yet. For example, you could include a link to ((Sands of Time)) in a page, even if the Sands of Time page doesn't exist yet. A little question mark will appear next to the wiki link which will allow you to add content to the Sands of Time page whenever you like.

Does that answer your question?
