So does there exist a place online that you can rent boardgames?

If not, what is your opinion of a rent via mail Blockbuster/NetFlix movie rental style, but for boardgames?

Maybe mailing costs would be to much, game damage could easily occur... hmm maybe not such a great idea.

There was a BoardGameGeek post on this idea earlier in the year, and the consensus seemed to be that the market was too small and the costs were too high. Not just shipping, either (although that's a deal killer in itself). You'd have to inventory every game that came back to make sure the pieces were there.

The used market for board games isn't bad. I've sold games for close to what I bought them for. (Or more, if they've gone OOP.) This reminds me of renting sometimes.

Game cafes are probably the closest thing to rental, but there's nothing like that in my part of Canada.

Board game rental could be possible but not online. In a small hobby shop it could be OK. I have seen puzzle rental, but this is more useful since when the puzzle is finished you can`t do anything with it. While you can always replay a game.

The rental system could be used for some kind of demonstration before the user bay the game. Else a simple "used game reselling" will do the same job than game rental.
