Thanks

Fos,

I applied the applicable patch (first one was already applied). I didn't really have time to hunt that thing down, thanks for pointing it out.

Don't know if this problem was caused by the hack, but if there are multiple forums with changes (colored icon at the top level) and I go into one of them, when I come back to the top, they are all cleared. So I can't tell which forums have new stuff in them. Even the messages themselves have been cleared.

I am well aware of this. This was caused by the security patch I applied. I guess nothing is ever easy right? Hopefully Hpox or Fastlearner can shed some light on to what's causing that problem.

I'm also noticing several people are marked as admins (loaded dice icons) ... and they were not in your list. ekted and caparica come to mind. while others (jwarrend, fastlearner) do not appear to be have the admin icon. I didn't see any mention of it in the thread, so I thought I would mention it ...

I'm still seeing a lot of Asian characters ... wondering if there's a setting for my local language perference, or is it like this for everyone?

We are aware of this as stated in this thread:

http://www.bgdf.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1237

Very odd bug. Not sure what's causing it. Most likely something to do with the security patch.

Woo hoo! The latest posts script is working again!!

I never realized how much I relied on it until it was missing.

Unfortunately the new posts search still 'clears' after you view it only once, which is a real bummer.

Fixed.

I'm not experiencing this, though one other user (Setarcos, maybe?) mentioned it, too. I checked your forum settings and they seem fine.

What browser are you using? Did you select a special skin at some point, and if so, which one are you using?

Thanks,
Matthew

I'm using IE6 at both work and home and seeing similar things. If it would help you I should be able to post a screenpic of what I'm seeing tonight or tomorrow.

I've never changed my theme/skin ... it says I'm using "DeepBlue".

Thanks for looking into it, FL.

Well, wouldn't you know it! Now that I'm at home and ready to take a screenpic, everything is back to English.

... "never mind" ...

Well at work I get all English. At home I get Chinese in selected places on the front page, right near the names of the authors for the news and time, etc.

So maybe the same thing is happening to me and Bryk.

I don't know how this will look, but it shows up to me...

Interesting. Looking at the source of your page in the header it says:

but in mine it says:

Different charsets. I'll try to figure out where it's being set.

The picture that Svan put up was very similar to what I was seeing at work as well. Wonder if clearing the cache (which I did just the other day on this home machine) has anything to do with it ... however, the charset coding that you noticed, FL, would only be able to come from the server, right?

Right, it would only come from the server. However the server might send a specific charset depending on your cookie or even your browser's identity.

If you could try destroying your bgdf cookie and then logging in again, I'd sure appreciate it. Whether that makes a difference or not would tell me a lot.

Thanks again for your guys' help,
Matthew

Destroyed my cookies. At first, I guess I didn't destroy enough of them and it was the same. But then I found some more and destroyed them. One of them says lang, so I take that one to be the cookie which was bad. All is good now on my computer here at home.

When taken out of context, this sounds very, very funny.
