Hello, I am new to the manufacture, marketing aspect of the games industry, although 12 years ago I created six different board games, that have been sat behind the wardrobe all of this time.

Last December on a trip to the states, after I outlined one of the boards, the President of a national U.S.A. Christian T.V. station suggested that we start to manufacture & market one particular game, which is a Bible based game & aimed at the Christian market place.

The Christian market is enormous, and there are not many games fulfilling this market place, I make this statement after looking on eBay a number of times, and finding none for sale.

The game that we wish to market is such that it can be personalised to different Christian T.V. stations, I am at present making a small number of prototypes to present to the larger Christian T.V. stations in the states.

If it works out they will place an order for say 5,000 games. We will then commission the manufacture of the game, which will be delivered to them for distribution.

Having said all of the above, we would now like to ask a question: If the above scenario works out as outlined, and the game is being advertised and sold on various Christian T.V. stations, what would be the best way to get the game into the Christian retail outlets in the U.S.A.?

Thanks 4 taking the time to read my line.

Here is a little help...

There are distributors who are specific to the Christian market - that would probably be a good place to start. Another way to approach the market (or any market for that matter) is to find a big retailer who you'd like to have carry your game and then ask them who their supplier is. Explain that you're looking to get your game into distribution and they're almost always happy to help.

Outside the distributor channel, you also have manufacturer's reps who can help. I have not encountered any of those who limit themselves to the Christian market, but I'm sure they must be out there.

By the way, you definitely want to look beyond eBay when you're looking at your competition. There are scads of online stores out there, and I'd recommend searching them.

Introduction & question

To say that there are no good Christian games is untrue:

Check out the Cactus Games website.

http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/

Perhaps you could contact them to ask for insight on distributing.

Probably the best method for distribution of a Christian board game would be through a Christian book store chain. Two of the largest in the U.S. are Family Christian and Lifeway:

http://www.familychristian.com

http://www.lifewaystores.com

And this site is supposedly the largest distributor (worldwide) of Christian 'resources':

www.christianbook.com

Good luck!
