what do you think about requireing info (geographical, etc) in Profiles for members?

It's nice to get SOME kind of idea of who you're talking to, or replying to, but a lot of people don't put any info at all in their profiles.

Just a thought...

I think that's a bad idea. If you require people to submit info a lot will just make things up. It's better to give people the option to opt out so that the information that is there will be accurate.

If a database is 50% complete and mostly correct, it's a lot more useful than 100% complete and 50% wrong.

I agree that it's nice to have some info, but requiring it is no way to get it.

I would also have to say that making info manditory is NOT a good idea. It only leads to resentment on the part of those who wish to remain private.

On the other hand, I agree that it would be nice to know more about one another so I have now updated my personal information and I INVITE others to do the same (But only if they want to!)
