Here an idea about something which is bugging me on this forum. It can be an idea for the new forum.

When there is a new post in a thread, it gets an orange marker to the left and the forum section get's also the mark. It is usefull to know what are the new thread or new post.

Sometimes, there is a thread that does not interest me, but it interest many other people. The problem is that the thread will alway be orange since people continue to post. The only way to de-orangify the thread is to view it. So I have to view each thread to de-orangify them all to make sure that when I come back, an orange mark will really mean that there is something new.

Now, could it be possible to implement the ability to disable a thread or a forum section, so that when a new post is made, it will raise in the list but it will not orangify itself and the forum section.

It's a really good idea and I'm sure many other forums implement it. I think I saw it as a "Mark as Read" action button somewhere else. Unfortunately, we won't be modifying much of this forum because we are supposed to move to another software.

If a newer version of phpBB support that function, Michael might upgrade it if it doesn't break anything else.

We have this. It's on the main forum listing page, bottom-left and just before the "Who Is Online" section.

You're right. He's asking for an individual button for each thread though.

But this will work just as well. Read all the threads you want, then click on "Mark all as read" to unorangify the rest.

Thanks, it solves the problem but from a different approach.
