Hello All,

Sorry if this seems rather naive. But i'm a newbie to this forum, and i was wondering where does a newbie start.

I mean is there any suggestions on what activity i should start doing on bgdf. Is it posting to a journal? Replying to a post in the forum? Or is there any newbie thread somewhere?

Thanks a bunch.

First of all welcome to the group.

If you have not already done so I would suggests you do allot of reading. Go through the forums and look at the posts, every basic topic has been covered at least twice if not more times. This way you won’t have to ask a question that has been answered repeatedly like the following.

1. Where can I find play testers?
2. How do I contact a publisher?
3. How long will the publisher take to review my game?
4. Will they steal my idea?
5. How much money can I make?

By all means if you don’t find the answer to your questions ask. It is likely that someone here has had some experience with it.

My advice to you would be to do the following:

1. Read the older threads. Are they better than the current ones? Frankly, yes. Just kidding! Actually, the nice thing about boardgame discussions is that they aren't time-bound, so you can surf way back off the first page of threads and still get solid, relevant stuff. Also, few people mind if you reply to these older posts, and the forum isn't all snooty about "dead" threads. Good threads can spring to life again at a whim.

2. List yourself on the Designer Registery. This will allow others in your area to make contact, if that's your thing.

3. Hit the Playtesting and Development threads, and the Web Resources areas. These are often overlooked by newcomers, and have some good stuff in them.

4. Start a journal, if the urge strikes you. this is a great way to let people know what sort of projects you're working on.

Welcome, one and all!
