Is it just me or the concept of a grumpy man strongly opiniated about rodents is hilarious? This man will totally flip out at the mere mention of a rat, mouse and even a cute hamster. He'll curse them damn rodents to hell from dusk to dawn. He does not become red-faced angry often but just won't shut up about the rodents and how he hate them. He's got very real reasons for hating them too and will tell anybody that care to listen.

Got the visual imagery by looking at the Wiki's logo and I'm laughing my ass off.

Puking, rotating smileys.

As long as they're not singing "badger badger badger," I suppose it's okay...

Actually

it's a mongoose, if you really must know, which technically isn't a rodent. It's in the weasel family.

Some kind of absurd beer & pretzel game about animal haters (who hates animals?) would be fun, no? Your sense of humour is twisted if you don't find that funny!!!

I was trying to fill a void noticed by Pt314

All right, as a card-carrying mustelid fan, I demand to be let in on the joke!

I feel that I had to do WAY to much research to even begin to understand this thread...
... maybe it's me?
... maybe it's Tuesday?

Whatever.

I DID figure it out though... and although I don't find the idea of a man scared of rodents particularly "hilarious"... I do find it moderatly amusing.

:)

So, what am I missing? I'm still confused...

Okay, the way I understand it... hpox had a sudden "vision" from seeing the "rodent" [read: mongoose] on the Wiki logo

He envisioned an old man scared of said rodent... and began laughing... thus he assumed it would be equally hilarious to us. :)

I figured out where the rodent had come from... just not the old man. :)

Heyyyy, that's one handsome critter!

OK, now here's a stupid question to end all stupid questions...

Is there a link to the Game Design Wiki around here somewhere? I've looked on the front page, under Web Resources, and under "Topics" at the top of the screen. There must be some place blindingly obvious that I'm missing.

I thought it might be the Wiki, but I wasn't sure, because I couldn't find the link anywhere...

Perhaps I should have searched the message boards...

Well....

To be honest, the wiki is not officially open for business right now because we haven't really decided which way direction to take it in and how to manage it yet. That's why you don't see it on the menu (although technically, it *IS* there). Heh.

hey! that's rikki tikki tavi!

i love that story.

what's a wiki?

mongoosi

mongooses

are very cool critters. I believe that they eat snakes-

anyway, yes the wiki is fully accesible. I'm amazed that so few people have discovered it. But don't worry guys, you're not missing anything except for Darke's incoherent ramblings in the (now long lost) sand box. Actually, I'm sorry for all of you - that was a must see : )

and now, since this thread is so horribly off topic already - - - why not just incite a flame war?:
*cough* +1 *cough*
there, it's done - sorry[/i]

I loved that cartoon as a kid, truly one of Chuck Jones' best.
I believe a wiki is a hyper-linked/cross-referenced encyclopedia. Every time a keyword that has its own article appears anywhere on any article, that word is tagged as a link to that article. Thus if there is any aspect about the subject you do not understand, you can follow it (in a Kevin Bacon like fashion) down to it's most basic principles.

I think it's even better than this grumpy guy hate mongooses! He can't tell them apart from rodents, so he hate them too.

One precision, he's not necessarily scared of them. He just can't handle the fact that they do not respect his property for example. This fully grown man will shout "Get off my lawn god damned squirrel!" and start chasing the weasel off his lawn.

We can use this thread for interesting stuff too! Who links to bgdf?

After so recently finishing the sequel to "Watership Down", I am afraid I cannot relate to any sort of hatemongering towards rodents, by Frith.

Sequel

There is no sequel to Watership Down that I know of. Are you talking about the 'Stories from Watership Down' collection of short stories?
