This is a set of homemade rules that I had made for monopoly. I play tested them once. It rebalance the game, allows better playing with more players ( 4 or more ) and it removes player ellimination. I tought it would be a good idea to post it here( since everybody know this game). Here are the rules.

Most of the rule modications are related to the buildings. On each piece of land you can either build ONE house OR one hotel. Here is the related informations :

House
Price : Twice normal house ( 100, 200, 300, 400 )
Rent : as 1 house.

Hotel
Price : Twice the price of 2 houses ( 200, 400, 600, 800 )
Rent : as 2 house

If you build an house, you CANNOT UPGRADE later by paying the difference for an hotel. You must take a turn to destroy your house and then build an hotel at full price the next turn. So think twice before building.

You can start building an house or an hotel AS SOON AS YOU ARE IN POSSESION OF THE LAND. So you don't need the whole color to start building.

If you have all the land in a color, all the rent are doubled INCLUDING RENT FOR HOUSE AND HOTEL.

This is it. If you want, you can add your own house rules, like making a pool for free parking or droping on go for 400$. It is still compatible.

What do you think?

If you remove player elimination, when does the game end and what is the winning condition?

I have two sets of monopoly. One is going to be revamped into "DRUGSDEALERS". The variant rules used here make it another game realy. (They also involve drawing new stuff on the middle part of the bord and 4 sets of cards to replace the chance-cards and the other cards of which I don't know the English name...)

For those interested, I can update my journal, or post them here.

Cheese!

I like the monopoly ideas. I was just replying to say that the two decks in basic monopoly are:

Chance
Community Chess

Most monopoly-like games determine the winner by the player who has the highest amount of money. The game generally end after a time limit.
