Morning chaps,
trying my best to think of a load of 'encounters' or events that could crop up whilst wandering around an abandoned space ship.
so far i've got:
Alien Encounters [Inteligent Lazer wielding Aliens]
Clawy-Monster attacks
Blob [green slime monster]
basicaly, most of what ive got involves running into soething dangerous, and if anyone has any cool ideas for something else to happen, please let me know xD
hopeful Thanx.
PS. this place ROCKS

Maybe you could do it like in Betrayal at House on the Hill, where every eventcard might be bad, but doesn't have to be. For instance: "You hear a sissing noise. Oh my god, you think, the aliens are trying to poison me with mustard gas" Roll 1-3 = Your health goes down 1 + you have to run back: "It is mustard gas, run for your life!" Roll 3-4= Everything remains the same: "Aliens don't exist, keep it together!" Roll 5-6 Walk further "How bad could it be?"

And if I may put in a suggestion on how it should look: make the images on the cards (of empty tunnels and such) as lonely as humanly possible. Helps creating a horror atmosphere.

Good luck!

Environmental hazards: Low Air Pressure, Harmful Radiation, Damaged Air Recyclers (Bad Air), Erratic Artificial Gravity, Blowout Risk. These could cause variable amounts and kinds of damage, and be warded off or minimized by the appropriate use of tools (if the players have them handy).

Non-dangerous events: Finding a map of the ship (helps you avoid places where there are hazards, and find goodies), finding useful tools (see above), finding valuable cargo, finding jailed prisoners (might be good guys or bad guys, players take a risk by releasing them), finding supplies (that might or might not still be pure and usable).

Go watch a bunch of old Star Trek episodes for more ideas. ;)

Don't forget to think about the external situation...

Like that black hole the ship is slowly being pulled into, or the galactic salvaging company ready to cut the ship in half for parts, or the man-eating aliens coming in to conduct a recovery mission for their critical data files. Lots of outside tension you can build to keep the pace up.
