I am looking for odd, unique and funny things people collect.

Art
Records
Books
Games
Pottery
Coins
Stamps
Ties

These are all pretty basic.
I collect Cuirous George stuff. but I would like it more general like, stuffed animals

Disclaimer:
(Not by choice, I told the wife I liked George when I was a kid. Then George stuff started popping up in the house and she tells people its my collection.)
I officially collect coins, by the way.

What are the funniest collections you can think of.

Yo-yos (sort of funny)

A piece of clothing from that special night from that special person(Gross, but funny)

Beer can collection.(Not funny.) A can of each kind of beer that a person has tried (Still not funny, but better)

You get the idea. Whats the best or worst collection you can think of.
Its just a concept I have, but its got to make you laugh when you find out what you have to collect in the game.

I was thinking of someone I know who collects clown paraphenalia (dolls, pictures, etc), and then thought "Just clowns." It could be pretty funny if you actually were just collecting real live clowns, though I don't know what kind of humor you're going for.

And don't forget foodstuffs containing religious icons. And domain names, I know lots of guys that collect them.

Don't know that it's particularly funny, but I once collected snow globes from everywhere I travelled.

I collect beer glasses from every place I travel to, but that doesn't sound funny to me. I also know pwople collecting pens, matchoxes, miniature bottles, movie posters, keyrings, used bus tickets, old postcards, McDonnalds toys, music boxes and scale cars and planes. But those doesn't sound particulary funny either.

One funny collection I've seen is bicycle accessories. The doorman at my parents-in-law's has a bicycle with all the stuff you can think of (and some more) on it: mirrors, lights, little flags, horns, etc.

My grandfather used to have a collection of hundreds of chicken wishbones. That might be considered funny.

You need real collections, or can they be totally made up, like used pieces of dental floss or a surgeon collecting appendixes from his patients, or something like that?

I know someone who collects anything to do with chickens ... ceramic chickens, chicken paintings, little straw baskets shaped like chickens, etc., etc.

I know a guy who collects bottles of water from places he visits abroad. I mean bottles filled with water from a river, see or lake. He had bottles filled with water from the Thames, the Seine, the Mediterrenean, etc.

Without worrying about how humorous each is, I collect:

Coins (a few different varieties)
Stamps (my objective - one or more from each country ever to have issued a stamp)
Movies (mildly)
Videogames (Atari, Colecovision, Odyssey, Intellivision, Vectrex...)
Books (more an obsession than collection)
Shot Glasses
Patches
Catalogs (boardgame and videogame)
Hedgehogs (not my intent, but they've been collected for me...)
Handheld Videogames (think old Mattel and Coleco games)

I have collected a few odder things (pen clips) at times in the past.

I did this for a woman I worked with a handful of years ago. She was originally from South Africa, but had relocated to the US ... when I went on a trip to Hawaii, she gave me a bottle and asked me to put some beach sand and ocean water in it for her. I thought that was kinda cool.

pretty common actually. most of these sorts of destinations now sell sand/water in a bottle novelty gifts.

Shot glasses as someone mentioned are huge.

For me its Casino Chips, all things Godzilla, and Guitars.

Is there a game in the works here by the way? Or was this off topic? curious and sorry if I maybe missed the point in an earlier message.

I didn't really know what I was looking for. Used pieces of dental floss is funny though.
I was looking for other peoples ideas on collections. I think in order for them to fit what I am looking for they will have to be made up ones. Thanks for al the input so far.

How is it that nobody has suggested lint yet? Do the items have to be uniquely identifiable? Floss isn't.

I'll see your lint and raise you NAVEL FLUFF!

"Uniqueness - millions of people collect stamps and coins, but as far as I know nobody else collects navel fluff. That makes my collection unique!

Rarity - the navel fluff of Graham Barker is produced in very limited quantities by only one person and is not easily obtainable by others (not that anyone would want to).

Completeness of collection - I've been collecting my navel fluff consistently for around 20 years and have seldom missed a day's harvest. This makes my collection almost complete, a bit like having the full set of a country's currency.

Good condition of items - like uncirculated banknotes or stamps, my navel fluff is in mint condition. When harvested, I remove any body hair from the fluff then store it immediately in a jar, where it remains uncontaminated."

No this isnt me, but I wish I was half this cool!

This is priceless... get the scoop here:

And by the way, here ya go... Enjoy my friend:

No-one should collect stamps because philately will get you nowhere.
(Scurra now runs away very fast.)

p.s. I really enjoyed "Ice Cream", Joe. We first played it on a warm day, and within minutes we were all desperate for a cone ;-)

That's why it has to be used. That will make each piece unique. ;-P

A co-worker has/had almost every copy of an AOL disc that he can get his hands on. Come to think of it, he might have just tossed out the collection of over 500 different AOL discs he had.

I would suggest you go get some more ideas from ebay! There are a ton of different things on that... such as comics, magazines, glassware, autographs etc.
