If I bounce some game patent questions off of an attorney, does a confidentially agreement need to be signed by the attorney or is it already assumed that he must keep your ideas in confidence and not steal them himself? Any helpful advice out there?

If you are paying him it falls into client-attorney privelage and if he tells anyone else without your consent he can lose his license to practice law.
