In a multiplayer game of Magic the Gathering it is possible for two stronger players to "gang up" on a weaker player in order to eliminate him from the game.

There are a number of things that might somewhat prevent this from happening. The first is: politics. Make sure that your game system works so that there is little gain in eliminating a non-threatening player from the game. The two stronger players should concentrate their efforts on eachother, instead of on the weakest player.

Another thing you could do is to introduce "global effects". Effects that affect all players, that level the playing field and give the weakest player a chance to come back into the game.
