On BGG, a person recently submitted a step-by-step explanation of how they made a homemade version of a game called Survive!

I think a lot of the techniques he used would be good for our own prototypes.

Here's a link in case you didn't see it...check it out!

To see the results, here is the images page for Survive! I think his pictures are the first 6.

I want to play this game just to know how those people can survive all of those monsters -- not to mention the volcano.

It truly is a sea full of danger.

Now if only he had known about the protoparts store he could have saved himself a lot of trouble making the board and box.

Should we post a link to the protoparts store in the BGG journal for others who may be interested in doing something similar? Are the protoparts supplies limited enough to keep them local only?

That's a great idea Sisk. No, Protoparts has plenty of supply to meet any demand that may arise because of such a post. And the more protoparts sells, the more products it will carry!

Cool, I replied to the BGG journal and mentioned the protoparts store.

I couldn't post a link directly to the protoparts store (didn't want to violate their no linking to a store rule), but I mentioned the BGDF again (Mike mentioned it once already) and mentioned that they should look for the protoparts store if they're looking for blank game boards and boxes.

Maybe put a large protoparts banner at the top of the page to help anyone coming here to find it.

I had that game when I was a kid (unfortunately I have no idea where it went), and I remember thinking it was AWEWSOME.

Virtually all of his techniques are here in the message base, but I hadn't heard the Future Acrylic Floor Finish one. That might be worth a try, nifty.

I've been wanting a scrollsaw for a while now, for that very purpose... I'll have to try to get one soon (I've seen a decent one at Harbor Freight at $40 on sale, so it might be the way to go).
