I just sprang for a Kinko's produced game board for one of my games.

It was printed on vinyl and mounted on a 14x14" square of PVC.

It came out so good that I'm giddy.

It cost me $30 but was worth it.

The peices make a very nice dull clacking type sound when moved across the board.

Any chance we can get some photos of the *finished* board?

That could be arranged. I'll have to snap some.

Here's some shots of the old proto:

The new one blows it out of the water.

Here's one more of the old proto:

Now here's some of the new one:

These were taken in haste, so they aren't as good as they could be.

This game looks neat. Are there rules around somewhere?

Even thought the rules are copyrighted, I'm not comfortable broadcasting them on the internet.

Eventually a publisher will pick the game up or I'll self publish. Then I'll put the rule set on BGG.

Can you at least tell us a little bit about how the game works?

Did they mount the vinyl on the pvc board for you?
How thick is the pvc board?
How much did the vinyl cost?
How much did the pvc board cost?
How hard would it be to cut the board using an x-acto knife?

I ask these questions since I am contemplating a modular board design. If I had all the pieces printed out on one sheet, I could then cut out the pieces afterwards.

All of the labor was done for me. However, it would be cheaper (in bulk) to do the work for yourself.

The PVC board is about three sixteenths of an inch thick.

It looks as though trying to cut it with an exacto knife would be mighty tough. Either they used some kind of heated cutting utensil or they sawed it and then "sanded" it afterwards.

I imagine that a good dremel could have done the job in one stroke.

Even though I practically begged for an itemized bill I was told that they couldn't produce one. That the specifications that I wanted were put into the register (like McDonald's) and a grand total comes out.
