Companies to contact regarding C.C.G.s

Just wondering which companies I should contact other than the obvious ones (Wizards of the coast, etc.) when it comes to collectible card games. I have created a new game that mixes both ccgs and strategy board games and was curious as to how many canadian companies I can reach in order to try to publish it. I am still in the process of playtesting it and am almost comfortable with the game mechanics (always looking for new playtesters-to those in Ottawa) and would like to start researching and contacting possible publishers. Can anyone help me?

I would recommend that you completely finish your play testing before you contact anyone. Even though it may take a company weeks or even months to get back to you about a submission when they say send me a copy for testing your game should be ready to ship and 100% finished. If they find a flaw in your game the first time it’s played the logic follows that more are to be found with additional plays. They have enough to do figuring out how to manufacture and market it without fixing the game too. Not that your game is flawed, it’s just better to be ready and put you best effort forward. As for whom I think you should submit to, established CCG producers will be your best bet. CCGs are high risk and many companies won’t even consider doing them. To get a list of manufacturers go to www.boardgamegeek.com and look at the CGGs listed and see who produces them.

Thanks for your input. The hardest part is finding playtesters that aren't ready to compare my game to every other ccg out there and being new to this whole process is a little overwhelming...however, I am encouraged by the shear amount of gamers still playing board games. I've designed my game to be a base three player game but have developed multiple play methods to include two to four players. I should mention that my game is a combination board and collectible card game.
