Hi

This winter and spring, I have worked a lot to start a new game publishing company. I had an own plan, that I had working on for a year, but I did run into some other designers that also wanted to start something new and we will join forces. We will go live 3-June.
Actually we will not start one but three different companies, but the brand to the products will be Gottick (and no, I'm not in those pictures).
The plan is to have a launch every quarter with 2-6 games.

The games:
- Before we starts to print, the games are well tested and have full graphics.
- We will start with a small print run for the games (25-200 copies). I have bought a high effective 4-coulour printer that can handle cardstock for this purpose. All games are complete (all component included).
- When the first set of games are sold out, we decide what to do with the game. We can:
-- Drop the game.
-- Make a new small run with the game.
-- Send the game to a printing company and make 1000+ copies.
-- Sell the game to another publisher.
(and yes... we already have some distribution channels).

The big problem with this company is not that we don’t sell anything (we will just loose some money, but the money I have put in is OK to loose (then I have at least tried)). The problem is if we sell too much. We do all have day time jobs and if it go well we have to work 24-7 (we also have families). That will be a nice problem to solve, but still a problem.

Therefore, I have to reduce my testing service. I will not remove it completely but I will be more restricted and selective. The games in the pipeline for this spring will be tested as planned.
I will thank everyone that did let me test your games, it has been very interesting and I have learned a lot.

Congratulations and good luck, Johan!

I am looking very much forward to seeing what games you launch with, and I wish you every success in the endeavor!

Congrats Johan. But, I was wondering if Gottick means or stands for anything? And the giant black cat? Is that Gottick or something?

My bet is that it's a word game with Gothic. The whole site has a Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Damned aesthetic. :-)

I guess it also has to do with the city of Gotenborg, Sweden ;)

Thanks

Actually I don't know what Gottick stands for. It is absolutely not Gothenburg (we are located in Stockholm). As I did say, we are 3 different design teams that will join forces and the brand Gottick is not mine.
The other two groups are Three crown game design group and Johan Games. I don’t have any homepage yet and 3C is under construction.
To the public we will present ourselves as Gottick, but depending on who designed the games, the other brand will also be on the box. The reason this is that we will have a co-operation that we can split if it doesn't work and that we don’t want to mix our personal economy with each other.
Each game will be an own project and I have to deicide if I will join or not. Since I own the small production equipment, I have no choice ;). I will get a direct payment and a chare of the profit, so it's OK.
