How to sell new invented Board Game?

I have a friend that invented a board game about football. He is in a
process of protecting his rights (copyright, design & trademark).

He would like to know who he should approach to sell his idea (game)?
- Are there any companies like brokers/agents?
- Or directly to companies which sell this kind of board games?
(Example: Cranium…etc.)

thanks

Yes, this one. However, all of your questions have been answered before in the forums. My suggestion is to spend some time searching and reading over what other people have asked/answered on the forums. We get questions like that one all the time. I guess yours kind of fell through the cracks.

To illustrate my point, if you would have read through the forums, then you would realize that some of the site's members actually work for publishers and some are even responsible for deciding which games those companies decide to publish every year. Why not dig some more, and come back when you have specific questions .

Good luck!

Well no, I can't. There's a search button up at the top of the forums, USE IT! Sorry I really don't have time to hold your hand with this one.

Well I will give you one pointer

If you really want to get your game published, develop some drive. I found out all the info I needed to submit my games to companies before I found this forum. The other resources on the net are scarce and few.

I you don’t have the drive to even use the search engine for a forum dedicated to helping people with there games than seriously consider if you have the drive to get your game published.

Not to be mean or discouraging but it takes a TON of drive to submit games to companies and a ton of work and research on your part.

As I always say
Spend a day making a game spend a year trying to sell it.

The easiest way to find a publisher is to do a little research online. Look for sports-themed board games and find out who publishes them. Visit the publisher's websites and try to imagine your game (sorry, your friend's game) leading the list of new releases. If this is difficult, the publisher probably isn't a good fit. Then, contact the publisher directly. E-mail and snail mail are appropriate. Don't send your game just yet; more than likely they'll send it right back. Ask if they are taking submissions right now and oh, by the way my game is called X and it is a Y type of game and is especially notable for Z. No mechanics, unless they're vital to explain what your game is about. If a publisher is interested and aks you to submit your prototype and rules - now you have a foot in the door. Yeah! Now, preferably by this point you have a clean, easily reproducible prototype and ruleset, because you're going to go throught this process a few more times with a few different publishers. They all take their time to make a decision, so don't put your eggs in one basket.
