I have working prototypes for 2 games that we have been playtesting for awhile now and they both play very well. Now I need a publisher. What is the best way to get a prototype in front of a game publisher? They are both minis games and self publishing would be way to expensive for me unless I find a venture capitalist out there somewhere who wants to start a game line. I know that my designs are marketable and I have some new ideas in the works as well as the 2 completed games. They are all strategy and tactics based games. Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

{Note: I moved this into the Game Publication forum, because it seemed like a better fit ...}

I think you may find this thread informative ... http://www.bgdf.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1980

Can I ask a question? Do your games need minis that are not available already? If the game is not historical or generic fantasy/science fiction already could it be tweaked to fit in those categories? Because if you can have your players find there minis elsewhere you can make money by selling just the rule books. Perhaps you could even set up a partnership with a company that already has established mini lines. You don’t even need to invest anything to publish a book now days http://www.lulu.com/ . just a thought.

And note that the book quality through Lulu is excellent. I've released a few products through Lulu and have been very happy with the printing. Unfortunately, sales through Lulu are very sad.

I would recommend releasing such a product through www.rpgnow.com since they'll allow you to sell PDFs and printed books (they're partnered with Lulu).

Thanks for the input. I have been using minis from Samurai Swords and Fortress America to play test two of my games. Samurai Swords minis are easy to get, but Fortress America pieces are a bit harder to find. I will check out the self-publishing sites mentioned as well as some of the game publishers that have been mentioned on this forum.
