I wanted to take a moment and pass along what I'm thinking as far as this first attempt at collaborative design.

Here's kinda how I see it working this first time (so you'll know what I'm trying to do):

  1. Participants put out their core game ideas. We don't comment on them (much) so that it's more like real brainstorming, where no one is discouraged from at least putting their his/her idea out.

  • We comment on each core idea, brainstorming a bit and just expressing our initial gut reactions. Hopefully everyone can come up with at least one positive thought and one negative for each idea they care to comment on, so that there's plenty of material for thought.
  • We all participate in a poll where we indicate which idea(s) we'd most like to pursue, rating them on a few scales.
  • Based on the results we pick one and move forward.
  • I have some thoughts from there, but I wanted to at least explain what I'm trying to do so far.

Oh, also I'm making a point to preface all post titles here with CGD1 for Collaborative Game Design 1. I'd appreciate it if y'all would do the same if you start any new threads on this particular design "session".
