If you guys want to put in the name or the theme of your game to whet our appetites, that would be cool with me :)

re:Upcoming Games

I have no name yet, but the theme is each player trying to get the most treasure out of a mysterious island castle.

I've been on a huge treasure theme kick recently. Pirates and such.

Broad paper/rock/scissors mechanics, and random castle every game.

Must be that Movie (which was cool by the way, even if you;re not a big fan of Johnny Depp).

I for one like the idea. To me a Pirate game ought to have some measure of Reputation, perhaps as a scoring mechanism.

I like the random castle for sure. Is that a tile laying thing to set up the castle, then a different mechanic for collecting treasure? Guess I'll have to wait a month to find out.

I'm not sure how the rock paper scissors thing works (or how you;d be using it).

Mine will either be Everest or Plunder (yes, another pirate game), or possibly Anasazi, so it's hard to say. I've got a couple of weeks to decide.

Well I dont' want to say much because I want to keep the focus where it belongs.

But basically each tile is a different color, red beats blue, blue beats green, green beat red, and your strengths change depending on these colors.

re:Upcoming Games

Thought I'd throw you all a change-up ... my game (under the working title of "Circle of Influence") will first be delivered as a computer game, with a later tabletop port. It is essentially a heavily-themed land-control board game that will rely on the computer for heavier calculations, a more complex map, and faster handling of the physical game-play (dice-rolling, piece movement, etc.).

The setting is in the distant future -- a handful of generations after the invention of the jump-gate, which led quickly to space exploration. The player is coordinator for a "planetary administration" company, whose job is to woo a newly-settled planet into using their service. Competing companies are allowed a short time to promote themselves to the planet's settlers, who will eventually vote for which company wins the service contract for the planet.

It was converted from a wargame concept I had previously been fleshing out, before I had an epiphany about making a non-combat oriented capture-the-map game.

Hope that's enough ... and not too much ... of a tease.

re:Upcoming Games

I'll be throwing a hopefully near complete Wheat and Tare. From the rulebook...

Overview:

Each player moves around the board at night, secretly scattering seeds in various directions by placing scatter cards from their hands into play. After a number of turns, the night ends. During the day, the plants begin to surface as players reveal their sowing cards sequentially. If an area has been surrounded on all sides by one color of seed, seeds of that color spread to the surrounded area, and it is filled with that color of plant. After all seeds have been revealed, the next night begins. The game ends after three days and three nights.

I will probably still be looking for much feedback, as I am still dealing with the problem of 400-450 bits for one game. Cheers!

Folks,

I want to keep the schedule 'clean' so that we can refer back to it with out all of the clutter.

Jwarren,
You can either unlock the schedule topic and edit it as needed or delete the old one and create a new one as you see fit.

Thanks for understanding,
- Darke
