Game development start to finish

This is kind of a general question, but is there a document here that I can look at to evaluate the steps needed to get a game from idea to market? I know I can look at the forum names (design, mechanics, etc) but has anyone done one or more games through every process? I need lessons learned so that I don't get bogged down, don't over or under-spend, get the printing and other materials created with the right timing at the right place, etc. How much collaboration was done and any tools used for distance collaboration, how much money for the various steps, if Kickstarter is a valid funding process, etc.
I have a game that I would like to develop based on a book. I am still waiting for the author's permission. Has anyone dealt with that? The legal issues involved? Has anyone ever asked for outside help from established game publishers? Is that a good idea?
In short, I want to take a game from concept to publishing. Is there a FAQ already or a blueprint here? If there is I couldn't find it.
Sorry to ramble so. Thanks.

Try this...

You can always look at this site: http://inspirationtopublication.wordpress.com/the-steps-for-board-games/

I don't think it deals with the intellectual property issue...

Thanks

The link you gave is what I was looking for. Thank you.

One of the other things I mentioned was a need for collaboration. I looked at a bunch of them and settle on Google Sites.

Once built the site is secure, so I can't give the link out. I have a picture of it on my site:

if anyone is interested. Also, if anyone would like to contribute, reply to my blog post or send me an email at:

Thanks.

Concept to finish

Hi there,

If you have a germ of an idea we can help you take from idea to finish.
You are planning a game based on a book, as you say. Permissions and copyright may be an issue. It is best you take all necessary permissions and licence the game-development rights from the author in lieu of a royalty (which can be based on percentage of sales).
Apart from that, we can help you with all the artwork, design, prototype making, production/publication aspect. Doing something like that for a health/fitness based concept that is now post prototype and nearing production stage for someone who got in touch via BGDF.

If you are interested please get in touch on eternitimedia@gmail.com

Thanks

Parvez
