Know of any games having dice that allow you to move x number of spaces in x direction? Thanks.

Runebound

The game I think with something like this is Runebound:

You have 5 special dices with icons that represents "terrain" 1 dice = 1 movement in the corresponding terrain icon.

A face have 2 or 3 icons. And each icon has a probability to appear: more roads or plains than swamps or mountains.

Back in 1995 I bought a game called Dragon Dice

I seem to remember that the different characters on each die had different abilities. I remember seeing footsteps that indicated movement, so you might Google Dragon Dice to see if you can get some ideas.

directional dice.

My dice, which I call Maze Dice, generate numbers and directions. My icon is a picture so you can see how they look. Basically you connect the white spaces to make your path across the game board. A #6 (dark pips are numbers as usual) makes you go straight, a #3 makes you turn.
I play various games with different rules for numbers of spaces. In one game you roll for the number of spaces you can move, then you roll that many dice and make the best path you can.
The 5 is a dead end so there are exceptional rules for it. In some of my game designs, it lets me move an opponent. Sometimes it is the only dice that can be played diagonally to another and so blocks an opponent. Sometimes it allows me passage through a barrier.
I also have patterns where there is a clear path on all the dice faces.
I hope to have these in stores soon. If you like the idea and want to use some in a game design let me know and I'll get you some.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for offering to use your very clever use of dice. I don't think it will work for what I have in mind but I do appreciate your suggestion. Good luck with the game- sounds fun.
