I know I had another idea I was working on in a previous post but the mechanic didn't really fit in the theme I was going for, the theme is aliens or creatures so here is what I have so far

This game can be played by more than 2 people max 99 people

So each player has a deck of 30 cards, this game can be played with just 1 deck of cards shared between each player but I wanted to have a deck-building element and collecting and trading other cards

so everyone draws 7 cards and the first player will play a card in the middle of the table. each creature cards has a combat power percentage, and the idea is you have to play a card on top of another card that has a combat power percent higher than the card that was played before your turn

so if player 1 plays a card with a combat power of 15%, on my turn I play a card with a combat power of 20%, I cannot play a card with a power lower than the one that is currently on the table.

to make deck building fair and to prevent people from just building cards with high combat power, each card is divided into stages or tiers

so the lava stage cards have a combat power between 1%-10 then the next stage has more power and so on and so forth, when constructing a deck you must have 10 lava creatures 10 of the next tier, 8 of the next tier and 3 of the last tier.

I haven't figured out if I should have special creatures with no power or not, the special creatures have special abilities that affect let's say the next player or something.

also, I have come up with a win condition yet, though I was thinking of if you use all your cards in your hand you win but what if you have more lava stage cards in your hand than any other card so once the center pile combat power reaches above 10% you are stuck with low power cards

So I don't know if there should be multiple piles going at once or there will be a max limit of cards on the pile before it is refreshed with a new pile, so if the pile reaches 10 cards then it resets

that is what i have so far

6 Nimmt

This kind of reminds me of the card game 6 Nimmt, which I first learned about while playing on Board Game Arena. It doesn't have creatures, but instead just numbers from 1 to 104. You choose a card and the numbers are played in order from lowest to highest, added to the left or right of the card it's value is closest to in one of six rows.

As soon as one row reaches 6 cards, the player takes the cards in that row, losing points based on the number of certain symbols on that card. As soon as one player reaches 0 or fewer points, the game ends and the player with the most points wins the game.

You may want to have a look at it and see if you can borrow some of the mechanics from there:
https://en.boardgamearena.com/gamepanel?game=sechsnimmt

Maybe you can have different creatures with different types of symbols on them, and players are attempting to collect (or maybe need to avoid collecting) a certain number of the same symbol...?

Have you checked the game

Have you checked the game "Hecatomb". It's a magic the gathering style of game where you create abominations by stacking cards over each other. It's the stack that define the creature abilities. Damage will kill cards on your abomination making it weaker.

What you think of the layout

What you think of the layout of the card?

should the combat power be more in the center? i only did it in the corner so its easier to read when you fan out the cards in your hand

Utility & Visibility

If players are supposed to be able to see the power level at a glance from across the table, you may want a large version of the power level displayed on the card. This can still be combined with the smaller version in the upper-left corner, as well as the creature graphics (and any other images important to the game).

To sum up: you can have a card that has numbers in both places, and I think that would be most effective.

This seems like a trick

This seems like a trick taking game -- maybe a little bit like pinochle.

What happens when no one can play higher on the pile?

What motivates people to play lower cards at all?
Maybe the lower cards have special effects that make them valuable in a different way, or can effect piles.
