Hey guys, first submission here. While i have other games I'm working on, i was browsing around and thought of a patent based game. Not too sure of the mechanics yet, or much of anything past a premise of gathering a bunch of old style patents together (Like the head mounted automatic chicken feeder, or rain water collecting umbrella).

The ideas so far are:
1) A bidding style game where cards are flipped up with points attached, and players have to try to get them.

2)A 'war' style card game where players throw down patents in an effort to steal other lower cost patents.

Any other ideas on how this could be developed? It's just a rough idea.

Why do the players want to

Why do the players want to collect these patents?
If there is already currency, why are players using patents to steal other patents?
What is the win condition?

Patents: They could be

Patents: They could be victory conditions
Stealing: Not sure. Just hashing out ideas and mechanics that could work with it.
Win: Potential the most victory points, or most patents. Again, not too sure, as it's too amorphous of an idea.

Mostly just wanted to start discussions on how something like this could be done.

Is each patent unique? Do

Is each patent unique? Do they give special bonuses, or are they just value based? I think the game would be much more interesting (at least from what I gathered so far) if certain patents had certain advantages.
How do the players acquire the patents?
