Always wanted to create a game using only dice [but not something collectible]. Finally took the plunge. Started a thread for it over on BGG here -

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/453444

Using the dice from a game called CHAOS PROGENITUS [later re-released as DEMON DICE] for the prototypes has worked really great.

Have any of you guys tried your hand at a dice only game? I've gotten myself excited now about submitting games to HIPPODICE - hope this might be a natural for next year. In the meantime I'll be slogging it along to Cons between now and then to see if it gets any love.

Right now my biggest problem is coming up with a decent name. I started out with BATTLE LINES, but didn't bother to vette it. Turns out that one's taken. So now I need a good name, but I do NOT want to use the word 'dice' anywhere in it. Suggestions?

Dice-only games

Back in May-June there was a dice-only game design contest on BGG. Here is a link to a geeklist of many of the entries:

I had two entries: Chunky Fighters and Shoving Match. The later was only a dice version of a simple card game I designed whereas Chunky Fighters was a much larger albeit still lightweight game. Chunky Fighters ended up winning second place in the contest and since then I've put a lot of time into it to develop it into a more satisfying experience.

There were a lot of great entries. The geeklist above only lists the entries that are in the BGG database. The original contest thread contains many more dice games. You should check them out to see how other people have gone about making dice games.

I can't help you on a name for your game other than to say that when you find it, you'll know.

true dat

Wow, Canyon - you didn't lie! That was an impressive array of stuff all right! Thanks for the heads up, I had no idea. I found the templates for making your own dice very intriguing - if somewhat labor intensive. The results were awesome, without question.
