I am only going to write here the idea of my new game not all the rules and things like that because I just want to see if there are people that would like to play this type of game.

So basically my game is like this: you gather resources from the map with your units. Then you can build what you wish with the resources (weapons, houses, fortresses, castles, cars, more units, WHATEVER you can imagen). I am deciding whether a player wins when he kills all the units of another player or have one of his units reach the other player's base (a 10-12 cm side hexagon). Oh and you can design your type of unit you will use in the entire game before the game starts. So pretty much you can customize everything in the game!!! :D

I always like the idea

I always like the idea of combining fighting units and resource gathering used to build stuff. Customizable is a very strong word as it can make a game very cool or broken. As long as the "whatever you can imagine" does not overwhelm the player with options, I'm sure there's a big chance you'd end up with a pretty neat game. I only wonder how would the "whatever you can imagine" things look like in the game, like maybe a steam powered supersonic worm moneky? Or maybe you're thinking more in terms of generic objects, like you've got just one kind of fortress, one kind of car and so on?

"Whatever you can imagine"

well the player does have a lot of options available (that's what i am aiming for, to make a game that a player can express their creativity). I have actually played my game with a friend and man i could have done so many things. "Whatever you can imagine" means exactly that. In my game when i played it the resources where pieces of paper, cardboard, and rubberbands (trash in other words :P). So yeah if I am a genius i could have gathered resources and make a powered supersonic worm monkey :D. (i actually made a cannon and was bombarding my friend's wall)

This is not a computer game is real life game, i have no idea what to call it :P since it doesn't have a board

OK, sounds interesting. And

OK, sounds interesting. And how do you measure the cost of an object like this? Is there a person who decides this kind of stuff or is it more like a play for fun game? I mean I know in Dungeon Crawling games (which I haven't played myself) there's this Dungeon Master and he controls the story (the world), making sure all actions are reasonable. All other players do whatever they like and the master decides what is the chance of obtaining what they're trying to do (via dice rolling).

There is no cost for objects.

There is no cost for objects. The only "cost" is that it will take you time to collect the resources. There is no one who decides all actions are reasonable because there are rules in the games that limits the movement of units and the things that units can do so that they can be "reasonable" actions. For controlling if a player is following the rules in his turn the other players are responsible for controlling the player.

I understand. What I meant to

I understand. What I meant to say is you build things out of resources, right? And say you can build a "crazy bomber on a bike" or a "stealth flying tank". How do you decide how many resources will each cost, which one is stronger, how fast they move etc?

You usually have something like a table stating what each unit type can do and what is the cost of having a new one, but with infinite types of things you can't have something like that, unless all things fall in a few categories, and all items in a category are basically the same.
