Genetic Engineering of a Sports Team

Alright, so I've got an idea for a rather odd bidding game. It involves each player having a biochemistry company that they can invest in to make money, but each player is also genetically engineering their own 5-man basketball team in the basement. Each turn, a piece of technology useful to the secret underground players-in-a-tube growing process is auctioned off to the highest bidder. Players must balance their legitimate business with their freaky experiment to optimize them both.

Is this too... out there in terms of a theme?

Sounds like there's a lot

Sounds like there's a lot going on. But, it would certainly not be the strangest game ever designed.

Question A: Have you thought of having the game take place in a world where its legal to enhance basketball players? It could be like a science fiction game with cyberpunk or biopunk swing to it. That way you can focus on building the team instead of having to balance a legitimate business with a secret underground basketball team - which might make the game easier to swallow for most people.

Question B: Do you actually get to play basketball in the game?

A: I like the whole

A: I like the whole legitimate business thing, though. It's a way to make the players money and the engineering is the moneysink that contains victory points. Making it legal and thus having a cyberpunk world is a fantastic idea, though!

B: There would be no basketball. At least, not yet. But this idea is hot off the neurons. Give it a week. :P
