Can you be a little more

Can you be a little more specific? Do you have a start on an idea that would really speak to you? There are already all sorts that run the gammut. For instance, "War of the Roses" is a chit based Wargame across England. Whereas Troyes, Ora et Labora, and Feudality (also all Z-man games) tend toward the worker placement style...

Hrm. That doesn't fully

Hrm. That doesn't fully answer my question. But its a start.
Try by first breaking down how you could categorize Medieval tech. Church Tech, Alchemy, War Tech, and then figure out just how detailed you want. 100s of techs is not a good idea. But if Tech is just a small slice of the pie, maybe figure out what six specific techs each branch might have. But, of course, you want to figure out what the total goal of the game is. Crusaderrs invading the holy land? A Vatican Mystery? A Lord in charge of building up his own little village into a town? A couple of books that would give you some solid inspiration are:
"Pillars of the Earth"
and it's sequel "World Without End"
"Name of the Rose"

That should get you started.
