I've been away from the gaming world because it was my final year of college. But now that I'm free I'm returning and I want to focus on simpler games, as my more complicated ideas are overwhelming me at the minute.

I came up with a concept for a simple, fun game that I think might be enjoyable to play and I was wondering what you guys think.

The game consists of two dice and approximately 50 cards.

The deck is placed in the center of the group and the dice rotates to the left each turn, like a dealer chip in poker.
Each turn, the player with the dice (the leader) rolls it and turns over that many cards.
The leader then (in their head), picks any number of cards that were turned and picks any quality that links the pictures of those chosen cards. (Example: He turns a Dog, Cat, Shoe and House. He picks a dog and cat because they're both pets.)
He then turns Dice 1 to the number 2, to signify the number of cards he's picked from the selection. He turns Dice 2 to the number 4, the signify the number of letter in the winning word: Pets.
Play rotates to the left, with the first player to the left guessing what the link is. Each player gets two guesses in this case, to match the number on Dice 1.
After everyone has guessed once, the leader announces if anyone got it right. Regardless of the result, play resumes without the identity being revealed.

Scoring:
When all guesses are used up, the round is scored.
If everybody guessed the word, each player gets 1 Point but the leader loses 1 Point for each person. (So in a three player game, the leader loses 3 Points.)
If nobody guesses the word, the leader loses 1 Point for each person, same as above. Every other player loses 1 Point.
If one or more players gets it right, but not everyone does, the leader gets 1 Point for each person. The correct players also get 1 point.

The next player to the left becomes leader and play continues until whatever way the players see fit: Race to a certain point tally; play until all cards are used; play until everyone is leader once/twice/etc.
The base suggestion would be until all cards are used, but there is no strictness on this.
Likewise, it'd be best with 3-5 people but playable with 2.

I'm pretty sure I didn't leave anything out and while it seems like a simple game, I think it has the potential to get quite chaotic and wild! It's like any game of Charades, I-Spy, etc. I'm also considering having a side-deck with buzz words like Abstract/Colour/Literal/Type/etc. to give guidance to players, should they need suggestions on types of solution words to come up with.

What do you guys think? :)

more cards should = fewer guesses

The more cards that are linked, the easier it is to guess the link, so that should cause the other players to have fewer, not more guesses. Otherwise there's never any incentive for the player to come up with a link that links more than 2 of the cards.

You're using dice just for indicators, which is a little confusing. Also, there's cheating to consider. It might be easier if the leader just writes down the link, on a piece of paper, folding it over so no one can see it, then writes the number of letters and the number of cards linked on the outside for everyone to see.

I like that the leader loses points if no one gets it -- that keeps him from making ridiculous links that no one would get. He's trying to walk the line that some people, but not everybody, gets it.

Another approach could be to have teams. The leader's team gets one point for each teammate that gets it, and loses one for each member of the other team that gets it. The trick is that he gets to give his team an additional hint of one (maybe more) of the cards in the link. This, however, would require that people make their guesses by writing them down, which detracts from the fun somewhat. Anyway, it's just a thought -- feel free to ignore.
