mancala based game

this is just a germ of an idea, but i thought i would see if it has legs.
my basic idea is mancala (one of the oldest games still played). instead of random/irrelevant stone colours i would have various resources (lets say wood, wool, brick etc) i would also have cards placed next to each small cup.
the cards have "contracts" (standard stuff like "2 wood + 2 wool = 5 vp. fail= -5vp") and powers (one shots that help you or hinder your opponent, like "if your opponent lands in an empty cup nothing happens, discard this card).
you gain the card of the cup your last stone lands in then replace the card. (or pehaps its the cup you pick up from)
and thats as far as i got. the cards need to be worked out etc but my idea is to remove the solvable nature of the game. i am thinking by adding the extra powers and scoring players will have to choose between the traditionally best move and the best cards.

I read your post in diagonal.

I read your post in diagonal. Since you are using cards as cup, does that means that the number of space is variable, or that their effect change over the course of the game.

If that is the case, it could be interesting and it would prevent dominant strategies when you know the game well.

i was thinking more of a

i was thinking more of a standard mancala board with a row of cards behind each row of small cups. that way when cards are landed on (or taken when you end in a cup) they can be replaced with a new one.

if i limit the card type to contracts of various types i might even be able to play against any mancala app etc. of course the app wont know what contracts its "buying" but it would be easy to playtest

i think i could go one of 2

i think i could go one of 2 ways with the cards.
1) a "points salad" style scoring. with different coloured stones that score at the end depending on the various amounts in your mancala.
2) each card is a different score value. if your last stone lands in that cup you get that card and add it to your score. then replenish the card.

Personally I would only use 2

Personally I would only use 2 rows of 7 cards. When a card has a specific combinations of stones, you clain the card, remove the stones and replace it with a new empty card.

There could be various type of conditions to remove a card. Like have a specific amount of stone, of each type. Has more than X stones of a certain type.
