I know this is a board game forum, but do collectible card games get demoed there often? Or would it be too difficult in the time constraints considering the complex nature of deck building and learning your particular deck? I can envision a scenario where you could bring prebuilt decks to test the mechanics of the game, I just wasn't sure if something like that would be unusual for the event or not.
now I wish I lived in michigan >.<
How about Missouri, where literally nothing of interest happens all year long...erm, I mean hot bed of gaming right here...
God I can't even be that sarcastic for a whole sentence without physical pain. I noticed the other locations bu thanks for pointing them out for me. Alas, next year maybe I'll venture north.

People have had all sorts of card games but I don’t remember a true CCG, maybe a LCG but a smallish one.
Time constraint wise building your own deck would be a problem. That alone could take hours before you even play. A prebuilt deck would help solve that problem. Protospiel is built on the concept of reciprocity. If you use up 5 hours worth of other peoples time you should donate 5 hours of your time to other designer’s tests. This is not a chiseled in stone rule and with the introduction of testers that are not designers (about 10% of the group) you can get away with less while still being fair.
If your unable to make it to Michigan Protospiel events get run in California, Texas (This weekend) and there is talk of a possible Protospiel event in New England. Of course the Michigan event is the original and possibly the best of them all having made it to our 10th year in 2010.
