My latest game design is called "Jacked In". Its a solo game where you hack your way through cyberspace gathering useful code tools while avoiding deadly ICE. Your goal is to take down the evil ToxiCorp data node.

I think it's a pretty nice solo game but it needs play testing so I'm releasing it as a FREE Print & Play game so people can give it a try and then give me some feedback on your experience with it and any ideas you have to make it better.

I was planning to upload the files here but one of the six PDF files is over the 1mb limit and zipping it did not help. So, you can download the files from my Clever Mojo Games web site linked above

I hope you give it a try and I hope to see your feedback.

Thanks!
David

Thanks!

Thanks for making this available as a free PnP. I'll let you know what I think of it once I give it a go.

Jacked In v6.1

This morning I posted the newest version of Jacked In, a free solo-player print & play game. Jacked In v6.1 is available on our web site at... http://www.clevermojogames.com/jackedin/

In Jacked In you surf through cyberspace, collecting useful programming code and outrunning or laying traps for the ICE that's out to stop you. Crack the ToxiCorp data node to bring down the evil corporate dogs but don't get ICED.

I'm treating this as a blind play test phase and would appreciate any feedback you have about the game for your play experiences...and since it's a solo-player game there won't be any difficulty finding enough people to play. :-)

Recommended!

Tried it, and loves it.
Definitely recommended to anyone who enjoyed the Sprawl Trilogy and would like to catch the feeling of a good run!

Thank You

Thanks for the recommendation, Ewain. I'm glad you enjoyed the game and that the theme worked for you.

I would love to hear any specific comments or questions you might have.

Anyone else played Jacked In yet?

Moderate tweaking

One thing that I've noticed through several games is that the difficulty setting feel a little strange;
(Barring being set up by the dice gods)
On easier it's a good game of solitaire that end with a win fairly quick (playing the Runner on easy IS cheating), while harder really take a lot of planning and a sprinkle of luck to avoid loosing almost as quick.

I can imagine that finding the right setting for the Moderate level is really difficult, but as it is now I find it way too easy compared to the Harder level. Even moving Interrupt nodes away from the cyberdeck, to give ICE an edge, does very little to make the game more difficult. I also tried placing the Nexus in the center (on the yellow arrow), which does help, but leaves the ICE far behind in the endgame...

Have anyone else noticed this?

Jacked In v6.3

First off...I fixed the Clever Mojo page so that it has THE most recent version of the game...v6.3
http://www.clevermojogames.com/jackedin/
Print the Rules, the Chit Page, and the Page with the CyberDeck Node to jump from 6.1 to 6.3
v6.2 fixes and balances Runner and makes ICE more active once you hit the Firewall.
v6.3 makes the chits double-sided with text on the backs so one does not have to continually look in the rules for what they do.

Ewain...Try placing the Nexus in the middle of the top row and see how that suits you.

Jacked In: Counterstrike

I've begun work on designing a 2 player version of Jacked In. The working name is "Jacked In: Counterstrike" and it pits hacker vs. hacker as they each try to locate and then hack the other's cyberdeck. I'll keep you all posted.

BTW, if you've played the solo game version of Jacked In, please let me know and tell me what you thought. You can download the free print and play files my web site http://www.clevermojogames.com/jackedin/
