Omega Orbital Profit Station

"Omega Corporation (“Omega”) has decided to open up the first commercial space station. They have launched a Core Station Module and are looking for corporations to add modules to the station. Just one catch, the corporations must buy the module from Omega's inventory and use their launch services. You have been given seed money from your parent corporation and told to make the most money possible from the station. You are not the only one that is vying to make money from this station. Will you be able to out perform your competition? What will you purchase from Omega? Will you create a Solar Power monopoly? Launch Luxury Habitats and Viewing Modules for the elite? Or stick with Farms and Industrial Modules?

A 3D model space station game for 2-4 players. Each turn players purchase modules and connect them to the existing 3D space station, which create revenue – allowing them to purchase more modules. The player with the most Cash in Hand at the end of the game wins."

I have run a few successful playtests at the local game store, but that is with me explaining the game play. I could use a few "readers" of the rules to help edit and solidify the game mechanics in the written form. Any takers? Blind playtesting is next.

Thank you,
Jeff Petersen

I could be down

I love the idea of 3D in space (flat space never made much sense), and I'm interested enough in the concept to put some time into exploring ideas others have had. I'll read for you.

can you give me a better idea of what the modules look like? I'm imagining tinkertoys...

OOPS modules

OOPS currently uses cube formations for the modules in the prototype version. The production version is slated for molded modules - YES - it will be a huge cost to produce. So I am open to cardboard with plastic connectors if I self publish.

Heya steele, Yes I think you

Heya steele,

Yes I think you will get a lot of feedback here, pop the rules up on a google docs and link it here in a blog post, im sure you'll get a lot of looks into it :)

Sounds super cut-throat which I don't normally like in games, BUT it does sound really interesting!

LEGO

I saw recently that LEGO was looking for game designs that would use their products. This might be a great product for them. Worth a look at least and you'd have a partner covering all of the production costs.

OOPS Directions

Great Idea - here is a link to the Directions for the game: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zT1df5fVfh0TeJnGau8OF0joGMpjSfKLsBE3...

Could you point me to where you saw this? The game would work very well with LEGOs. - In fact, my first failed design used LEGOs and super glue.

Playtesting

Hi there! Just read the rules, and your game sounds superb. I would love to be a candidate for blind playtesting, when you get to that stage. From the rules alone, it's difficult to catch any potential bugs or areas that need attention, but whenever playtesting is going on, let me know. I'd love to help. I'll PM you my address.
