Howdy ya'll

I'm in the process of developing a dexterity game with wooden disc that you can flick.

I want them all to be the same height and various widths. Is there a general place people go and ask for custom made items or game pieces for their board games? Even once I decide to maybe take this game big scale and on Kickstarter, where the hell do you go to get the components made and to your specifications? (even if I do it independently).

Thanks guys

Woodworks Ltd.

Not sure what to do about buying them at volume, but I find smaller lots of wooden components over at Woodworks Ltd:

http://www.craftparts.com/

They have wooden pieces of various sizes and dozens of different shapes, and their prices seem affordable. If you're just looking for prototype materials, have a look at their closeout section.

Some manufacturers have a Wooden Shop to make custom wooden pieces. Others outsource to manufacturer that specialize in custom wooden pieces. The only real issue is VOLUME. You need to meet their MOQ (Minium Order Quantity).

And with the way Kickstarters are going today, you might only get 250 backers or so... Which is way below MOQ which is usually 1,000 games.

Whatever you NEED, just add it to your quote and the manufacturer you deal with will tell you the MOQ and if they can do it IN-HOUSE or OUTSOURCED.

It's as simple as that...

Note: For example WinGo has their own Wooden Shop and can make pieces directly IN-HOUSE. But their MOQ is 1,000 games...
Whereas QPC would outsource the wooden pieces. But their MOQ is 500 games. That might be more affordable depending on the outcome of your KS.

I looked for wooden discs

I looked for wooden discs too, but they are difficult to find and expensive. I found a few good options at a Michaels Crafts Store. They do have wooden discs (perfect for flicking), but a much cheaper and better option are these variety bags of buttons:

Seriously, I can't recommend these enough. They flick well, they come with TONS of various sizes, and they are $7.

Best of luck!
