This really boils down to a simple question:

Do you want to start a business or do you want to be a game designer?

Kickstarter is great if you want to start a business and spend the majority of your time dealing with paying people, taxes, customs, shipping, customer service, replacing missing parts, logistics, warehousing, marketing, and 100s of other things that are not at all design related.

But if you'd rather design games and let someone else do all the "other" stuff, you should probably pitch to publishers.

Also, running a successful KS takes months of audience building before pushing the launch button.

You can definitely do it and potentially be wildly successful at it. Just know what you're getting into.
