Good morning!!

We would love feedback from this community on a marketing video we created for our Kickstarter!
A little background info to the video---we went to Ocean City Maryland over the Summer and walked the beaches having strangers test a few cards. We had a blast but are eager for feedback on it!

We attached the link below :) Please & thank you in advance!!

I think the game does a great job making the game look fun. At least the people in the video seemed to be enjoying themselves, which is the goal.

Looks great

Hi,

Watched the video and I think it look great! I love that it isn't too long, yet shows some of the fun challenges very well. And the people on the beach seem to love it, so I expect people to be attracted to this. Good job!

A very small explanation of

A very small explanation of the game via notes on the screen would be nice.

Pick a card. Do what it says. Play til you've had enough.

Unless you have a point system or something? just my 2 cents.

Appreciate the input!

Thank you for the feedback! We are working on a video that will go along side this one on our Kickstarter, which has a more in depth overview of the game. Maybe we can add more notes to the youtube description of the video too!

I agree with Evil ColSanders.

I agree with Evil ColSanders. A video with a brief overview of the game would be nice. The video doesn't discuss the premise of the game or what the player's objectives are.

I understand it's a party game that is meant to be goofy, and the video does a fairly good job of what the game's premise is, but you should still include a brief description and overview. It can be as short as 2-3 sentences; think of it as your elevator pitch. That's the best way to introduce your game to potential backers, instead of making them watch a 2+ minute video.

You mention another video that goes in depth of the game. That is a great idea, but the broad overview should be in the short video that's at the start/top of the KS page.

Otherwise, the video is great marketing and well done. Kudos on that. And the game definitely looks fun.

Thanks WinsmithGames!

Hi WinsmithGames,
Thanks you so much for all of the useful feedback!
Our plan is to use the video we posted as a supplement to our main project video. However, maybe this video should have a 2-3 second overview as you suggested so people don't get confused.

The project video does go in depth to the gameplay of it, etc... but we may want to consider adding a short blurb in the marketing one as well.

Thanks again!!

Nice!

I liked the video, and I think it did a good job of giving the viewer an idea of the game play. I agree with what was said above and there should be a short overview of the game before the beach outing. Also, I would edit the beginning a little more heavily. I noticed the video was edited a little better as time went on, so more of that in the beginning :)

thank you Jonathanflike

Hi there!
Thank you for the feedback! We will definitely review the video again and see where addtional edits should be made. Great advice!

Would you mind taking a couple minutes to watch the project video? This one does a good job ( we think) of showing the game play. It still isn't your typical project video, but we are hoping it is effective!! We would love to hear what you think!!
Thank you!

Not to spoil the FUN...

But I would "highly" recommend "reviewing" the challenges to ensure that you are not legally held accountable for an accidental poisoning or something similar.

What I am specifically referring to is "acts" such as liking a table or a counter... That could be really dangerous considering the possibility of super-bugs on the surface.

My thoughts on this is that it could be "less dramatic" but something like "licking a plate with a line of sugar or flour" (for example).

I know the challenges are all supposed to be for Entertainment value, I just hope that nobody gets ill from one of these supposedly "innocent" challenges.

(Gets off his soap-box) ... that's all. The singing in the second video is in need of auto-tune. But still good video production. As far as the success of the game - I cannot predict. I can only say MOST Publishers do not publish "Party Games" and your game is... A Party Game.

As a solo venture, I wish you all the best... Just being concerned = Fuddy-Duddy. No worries at all ... ho-hum.

Update: Or perhaps use a "cutting-board" and rince it out before licking the sugar or chocolate sauce! Or with a plate make them lick the entire surface clean... See still "nastie" but safer too...

Thanks!

Thanks, very good points. We have been working with our lawyer as we develop cards to make sure we are covering all bases! We still have time to adjust cards before we go to market.

Hey Ali and Britt,

I watched the video and the ending does do a good job letting the backer know what the game is. I will say though that song is rough to listen to. I would cut a few of the hooks just to shorten it, so it goes to you two explaining your game a little quicker, so people don't stop the video before they learn about the game from the creators. I'm also a little torn because The marketing comes off as though you want to have a wild and crazy time, but once it cuts to you two, you come off a little too professional and the dialogue can feel forced. I wonder how it would read if the explanation is energetic like the other marketing material. I know it sucks to re-film or edit videos, but that's my two cents, I hope it is helpful. There are also posts where the people go back and forth about how helpful the videos are anyway. As long as the Kickstarter page is clear and informative I think you'll do great :)

Hi again!
We actually just received a version that is auto-tuned, so hopefully that helps!

In regards to the footage itself, we have gone back and forth a few times on whether to put our part before the music video because of the length. We will definitely weigh the pros and cons again.
Our page does make it very clear how to play the game but we don't want people getting bored with the video...so thank you so much! Everything you suggested makes sense and is helpful to us!
