How long is an appropriate time to wait for a publisher to get back to you? Considering they are a big name, promised to respond to everyone, and are in the middle of a global pandemic?

I just want to know if they have looked at it

Depends what you sent (Email?

Depends what you sent (Email? Letter? Physical game?) and whether or not this was your first contact with them..

Some guidelines

If you have not contacted them before (as in this is your first contact), 1 Month is reasonable.

If they asked you to submit a prototype (as in the already liked your game idea), that's 3 to 6 months.

I don't know how COVID-19 will affect those estimates. Big name might take longer since they usually get more submissions than smaller publishers. For a 1st game, I would recommend a smaller publisher to help get your name out-there ... And then you can see what your options are for other games...

I guess from my earlier point, you've already gotten the okay to send a prototype??? If, no, well then you should be only pitching them a SELL SHEET... And wait to submit a prototype. Otherwise if they asked for a prototype... That could take a while.

Best of luck(?!) with your submission!

I did not submit many games,

I did not submit many games, but one game that I submitted I had to wait more than 2 months. I before having any come back.

But now with the pandemic going on, I would say don't expect and answer before it is over.
