Social Goal Strategy

Hello!
We are almost two weeks into our campaign( Whatever: A Party Game) and hit a little lull. We were encouraged to stir up more action with a social goal. (Thanks Questccg!!)
We are thinking of unlocking a PDF teaser pack to all of our backers if we get 300 'likes' on Facebook and 300 'followers' on Instagram.

We are trying to decide between a holiday teaser pack OR samples of the cards in the first edition.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

random unrelated question - have you thought about submitted it to the party category of most anticipated games of 2018 on boardgame geek?

theres not many in that category so youre almost guaranteed to make the top 20

Why all or nothing???

What I see is that the approach you are taking to "Social Goals" is "all or nothing"... What I mean is to get 300 x and 300 y and then unlock z ... is not really in the spirit of "Social Goals".

"Social Goals" are meant to ENCOURAGE people to "Follow a campaign from start to finish". Smaller and more numerous goals with the possibility of voting are much more "inclusive" and encourage more of a following. Facebook Shares with the proper spanning can be very beneficial in spreading the word about the game.

I realize you are "doing things your own way"... But sometime re-designing the wheel is a hopeless issue. It's been done and improved upon and demonstrated to be effective in "creating" successful campaigns.

While you could have kept it real simple, 3 Categories, 2x each of six (6) Social Goals which could have backers VOTING on one of TWO (2) possible cards you would add to the game. Why 3 categories, that because your game has three categories, why 2x just so that there can be more of a following... three (3) extras is a bit low - 4 or more (so SIX) and the possibility to vote on two (2) DISTINCT cards that you would add.

Sort of like "Card #1 or #2, you choose by voting..." And you can reveal the card - in textual form...

Why is this method better? It has progression... And that encourages people to SEE what's going on - check back later or in the morning before work... Just to see what is NEW.

So while I can appreciate you "doing it your own way"... There is a method to this madness. No doubt you will fund - at 93% of your goal... But the campaign - TBH is a like a "runaway train"... There is hardly any discussion (next to 0 comments - which means people are NOT talking about the game), the Social Goals are "all or nothing" (as I have explained) and I truly wonder if you understand what I mean by "following a campaign" (I realize this is your first KS - but I wonder if you have backed any KS campaigns that were ENGAGING)...

"Following a campaign" is sort of like "the first thing I need to do in the morning is CHECK to see what news/comments there are about the KS."

That.

Given that's the "user experience" you are trying to invoke ... think about HOW you can transform your KS into something worthwhile checking on.

As I said at 93% no doubt you will fund ... but IMHO you could have gotten a much better response by doing some things "using prescribed methods." And I think I explained that pretty well already.

Our next social campaign is to have our followers/backers vote on a card. We have that lined up in our marketing plan already.

Hmm...

Since 300 "shares" is a LARGE amount, why don't you guys have a THERMOMETER added to the KS page to indicate the AMOUNT of "shares" (and remaining).

Why? Because 300 is such a large amount - would be cool if you could update the "THERMOMETER" once per day to tell everyone how many more "shares" are required before "unlocking" the sample game...?

Just one of those ideas - to get people interested in checking back on your KS page.

Hi Questccg!
The thermometer is a neat idea!
Our social goal is for 300 'followers' on Instagram and 300 'likes' on Facebook. When we set the goal we had a little over 200 'followers' on Instagram so it isn't unrealistic.
But we do love that idea; it's a good way to attract people back to the KS page.

Yeah for sure... That's the problem with Andrew's game. Everyday backers wanted to know HOW many before a new card is released. It's like he would have had to make one "Update" or "Comment" just for the Shares count.

Figured you gals could do one better ... and have something more appealing than a daily "Comment" with some artsy flair using "Whatever" Color Palette, you could have something interesting.

And where I got the idea from is a job I had over 10 years ago. It was a government contract and the we're working on BUGS that needed to be resolved before "Going-Live". Anyhow to make a long story short... They used a THERMOMETER to try to reach their goal of "X" BUGS resolved before a specific date... Kinda like in your KS...
