I've mostly lurked on here since creating an account a couple years ago but now I have a design to share that is on Kickstarter.

Stac is an abstract game played on a 5x5 grid. Each player has one pawn that they will use to build and claim stacks as well has block their opponent from doing the same. The goal is to be the first player to claim 4 three-high stacks or be the player with the most stacks when no further moves can be made.

Looks like a nice little abstract game! Unfortunately your video does not do the best job of telling us what it is, why it's unique, why it's such a great value at $15, or really anything about PLAYING the game at all. It's fantastic that you won a BGG design contest, so that is a point of attraction for viewers.

It tells your story, which most appreciate, but saying things like "I'll be putting each copy together by hand" and "I'm pretty sure I can get it done by September" does nothing to instill confidence in backers that you have what it takes to "professionally" fulfill your campaign. As you're up against dozens of established publishers and pro designers on KS, your presentation, from the pitch through to fulfillment, has to be up to current standards. As it is, it sounds like your game belongs on Etsy more than a store shelf.

I wish you luck, but if you don't meet your goal, I think a more polished campaign will be all you need to get there. I don't mean for any of this to sound harsh or as though I don't like your game, far from it...Stac looks solid, I love the size and portability and I'm a fan of abstract strategy games. All the more reason I'd hate to see a good game not get funded due to what may easily be perceived as a lacking presentation. Luckily, KS campaigns are fluid...so you could make some tweaks, show off the game in your pitch video and push yourself over that easily-achieved $1500 line!

Thank you for the kind words,

Thank you for the kind words, suggestions, and reality check. I received a lot of the same critiques from others as well which lead me to make some changes to the video and campaign page.

By editing the video some (it could still be much better), adding a gameplay video, adding couple places to play online, and creating a limited pledge level for an all wood version of the game, it has brought the campaign to 82% of its goal with half of the time still left. So still a ways to go but we're getting there.
